Depression and Anxiety

Depression can show up in many ways; how does it show up for you? Maybe it is a generalized feeling of hopelessness, or a lack of meaning, purpose, or joy in your life that leaves you feeling empty, or maybe it is that “dark cloud” that hangs over us even when life should feel positive. Lack of motivation, focus, and energy can be a part of depression, as well as insomnia. Often, anxiety arises around how hard everyday life can be with depression.

Some anxiety is a normal part of daily life, but when anxiety starts to significantly impact our ability to enjoy ourselves and limits our ability to fully participate in life, these concerns should be addressed. Anxiety can show up in social settings, in our work lives, or even as a “pit in our stomach” throughout the day. Anxiety often affects our sleep and physical health, and ability to focus.
